Emergency pick-up

The producer or the importer or his collective scheme has to pick up waste portable batteries pursuant to the stipulated deadline . Otherwise DPA-System can organize pick-up through a third party at the expense of the producer/the importer – this is called emergency pick-up.

Avoiding misunderstandings

Experience shows that non pick-up is often due to misunderstandings or lack of communication from the municipal collection site to the operators of the producer. Therefore, the local council must make sure that it has been in contact with the responsible producer or collective scheme before effectuating emergency pick-up.

Local council contacts producer

If the portable batteries have not been picked up as agreed the local council shall contact the relevant producer/collective scheme. The local council must make sure that this is not due to a misunderstanding that the municipal staff at the collection site might solve in cooperation with the operator or the relevant producer/collective scheme.

Documentation for reminder

In order to avoid misunderstandings the local council must provide documentation that the producer has not complied with his duty to pick up waste. The local council must prove that the producer/the collective scheme has been reminded of pick-up, for instance in the form of an e-mail.

When it has been documented that the producer/the collective scheme has not picked up waste as agreed DPA-System can organize pick-up and management of waste portable batteries through a third party. This will be done at the expense of the producer or the importer.
